TW: Elements of horror. Themes of overdose
I feel my eyelids open, letting a sliver of light in. I was tired. I wanted to close them back. Curiosity was killing me. I groaned, opening my eyes.
"Shit."
The lights were harsh. I looked at my hands. Everything seemed normal. Real. For now. I coughed. Then I wondered where I was. How I got here.

The last thing I remember was taking a pill. No, not one. Many.
"It'll help with your head. I use it all the time. Trust me."

I heard the bed creak. I was in my bed, though. I tried to sit up on my elbows but I felt so weak.
Trust me?
No one was sitting on the bed, though. I heard something. No one was there. Not even a nurse. Nobody was walking through the hallways.
Why did I trust him? Who was he?

Pounding. THUMP THUMP THUMP.
I try to remember.
Screaming. The faces. Those ugly faces surrounded me. I pounded on the walls. They groped me as tears rolled down my face.
"Let Us In!"
The pill bottle spilled. I swore and took the pills off the ground and took them dry. Crying. The faces. Haunting. Their long bony fingers dug into my back as I desperately picked up the pills, hands shaking.

I awoke. What an awful dream. That couldn't have been me, could it? No, I would never.
Creak.
I turned my head to the side. A face so long. White. Smiling. Sitting on the side of my bed. I froze. I screamed.
It screamed too.

The door handle opened as a nurse frantically came in the room. The thing disappeared.
"Who are you? What happened? Where am I? How did I get here?" I spat out, asking all of my questions to her at once.
"Sir, you overdosed. Do you not remember?"
Let me in.
I shuddered. I heard a voice, echoing through the room. My whole body shuddered. The nurse tilted her head.
"They have decided to keep you here for the time being."
"For how long?"
"Until you get better enough to be on your own."
LET ME IN!

II saw it. Sitting on the bedside. It's jaw open. Staring. It peered at me. My breathing quickened.
"It's right there!" I screamed, pointing to the bedside. "Don't you see it?"
The nurse slowly moved her head to the direction I was pointing to. She then looked back at me. "Sir, I think you need some rest. I'll be back in two hours or so to check in on you again and give you some naloxone."
"Two hours?!" She stood up.
Two hours.
"No! Don't leave!" I screamed my hand reaching towards her. A tear rolled down my cheek. "Don't leave me with them!"
The nurse left. I sobbed, not knowing where to look. It was still there, with a smile too wide. Then it started crawling towards me. I felt every one of its bony limbs.
"LET. ME. IN."
I continued crying as it's face got closer towards me.
