這是一個關於愛情，但又不完全是關於愛情的故事。故事的靈感來源自莎士比亞的劇作《As you like it》中的一句名言「Love is merely a madness」。

整個故事分為「十七歲」和「三十歲」兩個部分:

「十七歲」主要講述主角「我」和凌凱燕的故事。事情由凌凱燕與一隻粉紅色的蘭花螳螂的對話為起始，繼而展開一場尋找螳螂的旅程。過程中慢慢揭示凱燕心中的疑慮和困惑，及「我」對凱燕的隱瞞情感。

書名取靈感自莎翁名言，除了想帶出愛情中的荒謬和不理性外，亦希望能經由故事中的角色代替自己說出一些藏於心裡的說話和想法。

這是本人的第一個故事，希望能有人觀賞和留意，更希望你們能留下寶貴的意見。
