The sun scorches in his throat, melting bones

The knife shoves inside their flesh, not their own

Poison seeps into her skin, birds have flown

Stretching all around the world, the lands moan

The people, indelible

Yet they’re silenced

The world that they’re trudging through,

It is violent

Yet they must keep drudging through

All the violence

There are no heroes coming

There is no daylight dawning

Yet they are heroes, burning

Their hope will bring the morning

Over and over again, she bleeds on

She cannot bear it yet still, choice is gone

The wheels of life crush her down, she’s a pawn

In a world where all must eat, that’s the con

The chains are invisible,

They are silent

The people, indelible

Yet they’re silenced

The world that they’re trudging through,

It is violent

Yet they must keep drudging through

All the violence

There are no heroes coming

There is no daylight dawning

Yet they are heroes, burning

Their hope will bring the morning

Hiding all their ire inside, they look meek

Though they don’t know it themselves, they’re not weak

Their face is stone-masked, their mouth does not speak

Hating that they have to be what it seeks

———

The chains are invisible,

They are silent

The people, indelible

Yet they’re silenced

The world that they’re trudging through,

It is violent

Yet they must keep drudging through

All the violence

There are no heroes coming

There is no daylight dawning

Yet they are heroes, burning

Their hope will bring the morning

He is risking death each day, just for life

He cannot save his people, from their strife

Doesn’t know if he’ll come back to his wife

Though he’s seeped in fear each day, need is rife

The chains are invisible,

They are silent

The people, indelible

Yet they’re silenced

The world that they’re trudging through,

It is violent

Yet they must keep drudging through

All the violence

There are no heroes coming

There is no daylight dawning

Yet they are heroes, burning

Their hope will bring the morning

The land is cut, paved, and torn into bits

And upon the sacred soil, factories sit

Digging deep into the ground, mining pits

This bright civilization, it won’t fit

The people, indelible

Yet they’re silenced

The world that they’re trudging through,

It is violent

Yet they must keep trudging through

All the violence

There are no heroes coming

There is no daylight dawning

Yet they are heroes, burning

Their minds and hearts and forms, up for trade

Their time and their energy, lost in raid

No matter what they want, they must be paid

They are secret burning love, yet enslaved
