Days fly by. Kade does not force me into doing anything physical. I still am not receptive to any of his advances. I am still processing over what has happened the past few days. I still work at his office. Obviously, as his wife now, I am given the respect due to me. I am no longer that mousy intern. I work as his secretary. I come to know that there is a confidential project going being undertaken in the underground labs. During lunch, as Kade is out with his associates, I snatch his security ID and I make my way down there. With his ID, I am granted access to walk into the labs. I see various chemicals in test tubes. I walk further inside the lab. I reach a station where there is a test tube marked chemical- H20XV2(Do not touch)

"Ah, my beautiful wife", he whispers in my ears. I am pressed against the wall and he pins my hands above my head with his right hand and with his left, he caresses my cheek.
"Let me go, Kade", I breathlessly whisper. His close proximity affecting me.
"No, not until you tell me what you were doing down in the lab. Don't bother lying. I will find out and you will pay the price for crossing me."
" You will never get the answer you want from me, Kade. ", I say with a steely resolve.
"My darling wife, you are such a defiant kitten. And defiant kittens must be taught a lesson.", he chuckles.
"Release me Kade. Uhh..", I say struggling out of his hold. He releases my hands and I try to scratch him.
"Sheathe your claws, my kitten. Or else, I will clip them for you!", he commands.
Something in me bursts. All the emotions that I kept at bay till now. With a sudden supernatural power, something shoots out of my hands. A moment later, I see Kade thrown from me and onto the floor. His torso is covered in ice.
Oh my god.
I have powers.
I can shoot ice from my hands. That chemical somehow rendered me these ice powers.
I am not a mundane anymore.
Kade looks at me from the ground. His face now taking on a thunderous and a malicious expression.
He casually melts himself from the icy barrier around his torso with a burst of flame shooting from his hand. He slowly gets up.
"Ah, so my kitten is now an icy kitten.", he smiles evilly.
I don't know what to do. He proceeds towards me. I try to summon my power again by pushing my hands forward. But, nothing comes out.
Was that a one-time thing?
Kade laughs. I don't want to think what he would do if he catches me. So, I do the one thing I should have done when I first set my eyes on him. I run.
"You can never escape me, my kitten. I will never let you go now, my wife.", were the words I hear from behind me.
I am about to exit through the door, but a fiery vortex blocks my way. I turn around, seeing Kade advancing towards me. I panic. I try to summon my powers but to no avail. Just when I think all hope is lost, my power flows out from me. A huge burst of ice energy. I shield my eyes. I cough. As the icy mist clears, I see Kade bent down towards the ground. A huge evil-looking icicle is popping from his right thigh. He exclaims in pain and looks at me with murder and rage in his eyes. He is in pain and helpless. I step forward to try and help him. He growls back angrily.
'I'm sorry', I murmur.
And turn around and run.
I run. I go farther away from him.
Behind me I hear a roar.
Its him.
A roar of pain and hurt. But more prominently a roar conveying that revenge is not far.
I exit the office. I do not want to go back to his house- Our house. Because that would be the first place he would be looking for me.

TWO WEEKS LATER

Its been two weeks since I got my powers. I've been trying to experiment with my new powers. It seems when my emotions go out of control, I am able to summon my powers. I have to attain balance and learn how to control this power.
I have been workinh at a cafe as a waitress for the past two weeks and stay in a small cramped studio apartment just above it.
'Woah, Stella hear me out. Rumor is that Supes.co is conducting illegal human experiements.", I hear a customer say to his friend while I was serving them their coffee.
"Excuse me. I am sorry for eavesdropping. But did you say human experiments?", I ask the customer.
"Yes, apparently Kade Drayden, the CEO is conducting a project not authorised by the government. They say, he has these chemicals that can turn mundanes to supes. No one can say for sure though."
I am dumbfounded.
Oh my gosh. The rumors are true.
"Enjoy your coffee", I say smiling at the customers.
That night, as I lay in bed. I devise a plan. A plan to bring Kade to his knees and rid this world of mayhem caused by the supervillains. After all, I am no longer a mundane. But a superhero.
