Shivers spiralled down my spine as Eliza blackworth’s glare shot at me like a thousand icicles piercing through my skin. Guilt was crashing through my veins as sweat drips down my forehead. All I could think about was how I had blamed her! How I had ruined her future! How I had ruined our friendship....
3 weeks earlier...
Sprinting down the hall in my first day back from half term I was bursting with ecstasy as I caught sight of my best friend in the whole entire world. As soon as I saw her she came running towards me. Eliza grinned at me mischievously and I already knew she had done it again. She had got detention on her first day. I think that is a record!
Anyway, it was 3rd period when things started to get messy... There was a new girl, Meghan who had just joined the school! Eliza and me always introduce ourselves to new students as to not get in their bad side all year! We never really became best friends with any of them because we thought we were enough for eachother; with Meghan it was different. It was as if she had possession over us. We seemed to do everything she said and when she wanted it. I have to admit there was a part of me that felt like I knew this was wrong but I just couldn’t help it.
Eliza and me never really spoke much after that because we were both so wrapped up in pleasing Meghan we just didn’t matter to one another anymore. 5th of October 2013... That was the day I almost lost myself.
Meghan was taking us to lunch for a ‘secret meeting’. I didn’t know until I got there that up until now it had just been fun and games, but now things were serious. It started of with small shop robberies but Meghan got worse! She ordered us to start stealing jewellery and phones but what’s worse was that we kept doing it. It wasn’t until halfway through a robbery later that week where I finally snapped out of whatever was making me do these things. I didn’t know what to do with myself. I slowly realised what I had done and what the consequences would be if anyone found out. What about Eliza? Would she be ok? I knew it would just get worse but I didn’t know what to do!
Finally I decided to confront Meghan about it because whatever she wa doing was not right and slightly confusing to me about how she convinced us to do all those things for her for so long. Little did I know that this is where I would lose my best friend to a monster....
