The scratches will heal, the memory’s fade.

If only I could go back to that fateful day.

I was lonely in the dark,

On my body, not a mark.

I was innocent, I was pure,

Of this fact I am quite sure.

Boredom slowly crept on in,

This is where it all begins.

The blue light glows on my face,

The boredom I begin to chase.

Lonely, I begin to scroll,

Unaware of the toll.

I find someone, a friend it seems,

Innocently unaware of their schemes.

They tell me that they’re lonely too,

I believe their words are true!

We talk a while, so much fun!

Nothing inside tells me to run.

Then they tell me they will leave,

This my heart does greatly grieve.

They tell me how to make them stay,

Give them something, they all say.

At first, I’m scared, a little unsure,

But my nerves they easily cure.

They tell me that I am beautiful,

The complements, quite bountiful.

They fill my mind with endless praises,

Suspicion, not a single one raises.

They tell me I belong to them,

Little do I know, their words condemn.

They make me feel loved, protected,

But what happens next, unexpected.

I am trapped inside my own mind,

They stop pretending to be be kind.

Their guise of kindness faded now,

Talking to others they don’t allow.

I’ve become their property,

Bowing to their authority.

Protected by far distances,

I’m still stuck in their trances.

I couldn’t escape if I tried,

My sense seemed to die.

I’m stuck now, stuck like tape,

I try, but I cannot escape.

I slowly start to think its fine,

Their thinking becoming mine.

I embrace this way of living,

Unaware of the misgiving.

I boast about it to a friend,

My trust to shreds they do rend.

They tell my parents about my secret!

The one I tried so hard to protect it!

The blue glow is gone now,

My captors gone too somehow.

Now I’m free, my heart unshackled,

The embers of my heart re-crackle.

One year later, my life is back,

Starting to get back on track.

Then the rumors start to spread,

What friendship we had before… the end.

My secrets all revealed and embellished.

My life becomes quite hellish.

People whisper behind my back,

Information they do stack.

They make it sound so much worse.

Their names I wish I could curse.

Lies turn into something more.

Things are said behind closed doors.

Gossip is a weapon dangerous.

It is hurtful, evil, slanderous!

It hurts my heart too much indeed,

I cut myself and make me bleed.

The soft blue glow begins to beckon,

It will be better this time I reckon.

Drawn back into the trap,

I’m done dealing with this crap

I’m caught again, this time less drama.

I get lots of help from my mama.

She helped me see my error.

I look at my actions in terror.

What was I thinking? what had I done?

Apparently, my sense was none.

Now another year later,

I have gotten so much better.
