I hate, hate, hate people who talk shit about others.
Considering that I have been a victim of my own best friend talking badly about me to other people, including some of my closest friends, I cannot stand people who do it.
Why would you do it? To make you feel better? Because if you spread rumours, you're not the better person out of you and the victim. You are the worst.
Also, I have noticed that it's always girls who get into fights within their friend group. With boys, all they do is yell about it, but there's never actual emotional bullying or talking shit. They just don't do that.
With girls, it's different. At least half of my current friend group has been a victim of some sort of friendship issue. That proves that it's a common thing to experience as a girl in middle school.
On social media, influencers always talk about being a 'girl's girl'. The term is used to describe a girl that never talks shit about others, always is helpful and would rather have a best friend than a boyfriend.
Let's be real. What girl acts like that? Most girls I know are desperate for a boyfriend.
I try to be a girl's girl. In all honesty, I have talked shit about others previously in my ex-friend group that happened to be super toxic. When I mean toxic, I mean out of this world toxic. It was crazy.
Anyway, ever since the start of the school year, having a different, more supportive friend group has definitely helped me feel better.
But there are still people doing it.
Some girls are just addicted to spreading rumours. There's this one girl in my year who constantly does it, even about her best friends, trying to make her friendship group fall out. And when those girls try to ditch her, she always blackmails them into staying with her.
This just proves that friendship issues is a common issue that needs to be resolved.
A survey carried out by the University of Michigan shows that around 20% of children lack friends. This is a large number, though it doesn't seem like it, because younger children are usually in a period of their lives when they can be free from general opinions and judgement.
The fact that 20% of them lack friends or have no friends is quite scary.
I don't even blame them. Considering how friendships are so easily turned into hatred these days, no wonder some people prefer to just be loners and stop giving friendship a chance. I gave it another chance because I'm an ambivert and I need a social life.
To introverts: I understand if you can't stand people because of friendship issues.
Friendship issues can also border on bullying. The situation I experienced was similar to bullying, because my toxic friend group always excluded me from hangouts or sleepovers, presumably because I didn't have a phone, but in reality because they wanted to strengthen their group identity by excluding someone else, which in this case happened to be me.
Rude? Very much.
Do you know how hard it is to go through one? In some extreme cases, it can lead to suicide. Whether by overdose, a gun or another method, it can happen. Middle school and high school are just that bad.
It bothers me that adults tend to brush these situations off. To them, it's not bullying, so they automatically don't care. But in a lot of cases, there are a lot of similar elements to bullying, and in most cases it is a form of bullying. Why do adults not care?
