我覺得寫小說其中一個最有趣的地方，不是過程中怎樣鋪排情節，而是創作前期的資料搜集。這陣子，嘗試創作一篇三國題材的故事，為了讓故事內容能與《三國演義》某些情節，或真實某些歷史事件相呼應，我花了很長的時間重溫小說內容，及查考相關史料。現在故事寫了三分之一，真正得著的不是寫了多少篇，或寫了多少字的內容。我真正得著的，是在創作的這程中，對一些喜歡的歷史人物有了更全面及深入的認識。人物立體了，對其認知豐富了，結果讀起相關歷史時，自己更能得心應手，掌握箇中的脈絡與重點。
