Vtuber， 亦稱作虛擬YouTuber/實況主，特徵是會利用動態捕捉技術驅動一個2D平面/3D立體的虛擬形象角色進行影片/直播創作。

Vtuber的優勢在於能夠利用虛擬形象進行故事創作或者經營人設而不讓人覺得突兀，因為二次元的虛擬形象能夠產生觀眾抽離於現實，並投入實況主的誇張設定/浮誇的表達方式，是單靠真人做不到的效果。

當然，對比利用真人進行創作的YouTuber/實況主，Vtuber大部分時間需要利用非實體的方法呈現新的內容給觀眾（例如換新造型/任何影片直播的素材）會比普通網絡創作者可以依靠實體素材進行內容創作更為複雜。
