These are all the authors who are looking for a beta reader. If you are one of these authors, please create a post with the following template:
Name:
Title of Piece:
Genre(s):
Rating:
Summary/Description:
Looking for a Beta Who Can/Will: Specify what in particular you are looking for from a beta reader. Do you want them to focus on plot? Grammar? Characterization? Or are you going for something overall?
Preferred Form of Communication: Email, Penana PM, etc.
Preferred Form of Beta-ing: Google Docs, Penana's system, etc.
Deadline: Are you on a time crunch and have a deadline to meet?
Authors: Once you are no longer looking for a beta reader, please update your post saying so. A simple "no longer looking" or the like at the top of your post will do. Essentially, keep your post up to date by editing your post when changes occur or should be known.
Beta Readers: If you wish to offer your services to an author, please send them a PM. Do not post a reply to their post as this will make everything really confusing. Only authors can create posts or reply to their own posts. This is just to make everything clean and organized as I am kind of OCD like that.
All communication should be done through the preferred communication system.
If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or post on the Questions thread.
Summary: A novice detective, Jonathan, investigates the suicide of a teenage girl named Alexandria King. His biggest lead is her diary which contains the final days of her life.
Looking for Beta reader who can/will: Someone who would be willing to check grammar, sentence variation, sentence phrasing, and help with plot and characters. I'd love to find someone who has a lot of experience with first person writing.
Preferred form of communication: Email and Penana website are the best.
Preferred form of beta-ing: Anything works!
Deadline: I'm currently uploading some of it on another website, so I'd prefer if I could get some moderately fast responses. (Getting an email back every three weeks, for example, would be a pain.)
Name: Contemptuous (that's my pen-name, but you can refer to me as Mel)
Title of Piece: Safe Zone
Genre(s): Apocalypse, zombies, action, adventure
Rating: R (for language and violence)
Summary/Description: As the five year mark of the outbreak of the Virus Deloris nears, people begin to lose hope that there will ever be a cure, and most just assume that life on planet Earth will forever be fighting the dead, and fearing the living. But those who haven’t lost hope are still seeking the cure, or someone who knows how to reach it, and will stop at nothing to undo what has been done.
Looking for a Beta Who Can/Will: Basically I'm looking for a beta who will just keep me in check and let me know if everything makes sense. I typically don't worry about grammar because I'm okay at it and the only mistakes I have in that department are little and can be fixed. Also a beta who will keep up with the story is always nice.
Preferred Form of Communication: We can email or just talk over Penana. Also kik-ing is an option. Just PM me if you want to do it over email or kik and I'll give you my user for those.
Preferred Form of Beta-ing: I don't care much, I can shoot you an email when I get a chapter done or we can do google docs. Either works.
Deadline: No real deadline per-say, but I'd like a beta who can get back to me in a timely manner (so within 48 hours).
Name: Knut (that's my pen name)
Title of Piece: Black Book
Genre(s): Urban fantasy, young adult
Rating: PG-13
Summary/Description: Cassie Johnson is a perfectly devout Christian - until she finds a small black book in her dead neighbours house and everything starts to go horribly wrong. Amid conniving angels, strangely friendly demons, and bloodthirsty warlocks, can she keep her soul? Or is she doomed to Hell - or worse?
Looking for a Beta Who Can/Will: I'm looking for a beta who is good with dialogue and characters and can tell me if my dialogue is off or my characters are acting OOC.
Preferred Form of Communication: Email, google docs, or talking over Penana.
Preferred Form of Beta-ing: Anything works, I guess, but I can't send the entire draft at once - I'm writing it chapter-by-chapter.
Deadline: I'm currently uploading it to a few websites as a webserial, so within 2-3 days.
