My goal is to attempt to write a novel or story collection on the Romance genre. It will be my first official romance story on Penana. I will try my best to at least write a COMPELETED one even it's not 50,000 words!
I'm planning to write a fantasy story! It's my first time participating so my goal is to write as much as I can.
The story's mainly about an estranged father, who is a magical healer, and his teenage daughter. Their tense relationship is something they both have to deal with while a foreign prince suspected of multiple murders of another kingdom's royalty comes visiting their queen (yeesh, this summary is better than the one I put on the nano site!).
The estranged relationship part is a bit worrying for me since I don't know anything about such a relationship. I'm kind of thinking that it shouldn't matter, since my characters will handle such a relationship in their own way just as how real life examples of estranged parent-children are all unique cases. I don't want to hurt anybody with my portrayal.
So yeah...while it's going to be really fun to write there's that little corner of my mind prodding at my worries.
I'm doing a Christian novel and right now the details are sketchy but when Allison prayed for a miracle, two teenage boys being dropped off on her doorsteps was the last thing she expected, especially when one doesn't speak, and the other has a me against the world mentality. These burdens were placed into her life, turning her world upside down or just maybe flipping her upside down world up right again
I'm writing a fantasy novel about a science ruled world with few mages, but an ancient evil is coming back again and science can't stop it. 6 kids who aren't even legal adults have to go on a quest to stop it.
I've been thinking about using a story of mine that's been here for awhile called Where Chaos Reigns. I'd really like to finish it and I think NaNoWriMo would be the perfect challenge for that.
It's either that or I'll come up with something else. i have a few ideas brewing in my head.
I'm thinking about doing a college music romance but I'm also torn between my current historical WIP. I need to come to a decision soon! And I need to get Scrivener.
@Musesation, It's a writing software. It helps organize everything into folders and it's all in one big binder. It's one of the best writing softwares on the market. It costs money though.
@Davrielle, Isn't that similar to keeping folders on your computer? Paying for a software seems a bit extra. But then again it probably has additional features that I don't know about.
@Musesation, well this software keeps everything for your story on one platform and one screen. Say you have character profiles, your magic system notes, Plot outlines, City and town info, it keeps them all there in folders and sticky notes to look at as you are writing. Instead you would need multiple windows open and dig through your desktop folders to search for the form you need for plot or character. It's a wonderful software. I think during November you get a free 30-day trial
I'm going to write a novel somewhere beetween Scifi and Fantasy about a group of people called "The Chosen Ones" there is ten of them, none of which know eachother, and they are supposed to close a crack that has opened in the universe. That is the Scifi part, the fantasy part is that the dimension it opens up into is a fantasy world. The problem is, they must get the people on the other side to help them, and the reason they opened the crack in the first place is there world is dying. Now they have to decide if they want to kill off an entire race, or risk killing the human race.
Hey! I'm Holden! Not exactly new to writing, but I'm trying out NaNoWriMo for the first time. I'm thinking of doing a paranormal-crime-humor-action and a bunch of other genres type story. It's called "The Zombies take a Cab", and it basically tells the story of criminal zombies in NYC. It's an...odd story to mess around with, but I think I can make a few people gag. By criminal, I mean in ways they ARE murdering people to feed on their flesh and brains to survive. The main character is one of the only zombies that cannot eat human brains/flesh, but can eat human food instead, while the other zombies' tastes are complete opposites. So, while still trying to preserve as much as the human race as possible, Johnny Innel must fight for brains, flesh, and the protection of his city.
@Musesation, Thanks so much! It has a few plot holes I'm trying to patch up, so I've got less than a week to finish the storyline and finally get writing.
@HoldenKern, I entered but I realized that I have an essay due each week of November so THAT'S a huge block. I planned to write a fantasy story about an estranged father and daughter who get in the middle of a foreign prince's plans to assassinate their queen. It's not like what I usually write so I was looking forward to it...
I know I posted on here before but I actually came up with an idea for a novel instead of using a story I already have. The apocalypse has come and heaven and hell are at war with each other. The entire thing is going to be told from the Archangel Michael's POV as he and his angels battle for earth and humanity's survival. A lot of it is based off of the Book of Revelations so it's more of a Biblical story. I honestly hope that doesn't turn people off of it.
@Frances, Thanks and I agree! I'm pretty excited to work on the story, but I know what asshats (pardon my French) some people can be if something has even the most remote of connections to religion.
@Nicole Armas, if they do then that's their problem. you aren't making them read it. it was their choice to look at it as much as its your choice to write it.
Yah, I have posted on here before too but I decided to go a totally different route and try my hand at fantasy. So I'm writing a story about a candy shop girl who accidentally casts a love spell after she breaks up with her cowboy boyfriend. A high rolling poker player falls for her because of it but then he gets in trouble with some good luck loan sharks and she ends up the lucky charm for a King Pin in the underworld of good luck gambling... there's a lot of cupcakes and macaroons too.
