A lot of places (bookstores, libraries) that get involved in NaNoWriMo host "write ins," or days when NaNo's get together at a time and location to write together in person. Well, considering the diversity of our community, I would like to dedicate this space to one big "write in" for the duration of November! The concept is simple: when you get on your computer to write for NaNo, hop on this thread and check in. If anyone else is on, everyone can strike up a little pow-wow and have a virtual write-in! Any and all discussions are welcome, and feedback/idea swapping is all but mandatory!
@Andrew Knight, chateau la roach is the play I am Happy. I am not actually supposed to be in the play but someone dropped the part and they needed someone to replace them. So here I am. I love theatre.
@sar-low, Cool! I played parts in Romeo and Julie (Romeo), Frankenstein, and One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. Mostly, I was head of the Tech Department and did set design and stage managment
@Andrew Knight, My school did The Nave of Hearts last year. It is a one act I plaied the Chancellor, I had to wear this Gigantic sweater. You know how hot stage lights get? Well this sweater was almost an inch thick. Needless to say it was very hot.
@Andrew Knight, my school wont let us change the light our selves. My freshman year (I am a Jr) I worked the spot ligt for our one act and I burned my arm in the middle of the preformance it sucked. I am super excited for this years play. It is in 3 weeks and I cant wait.
@sar-low, man, that really sucks! I owe 90% of my technical, electrical, drafting, and management skills to tech theatre. Who does your maintenance and set construction if you guys can't do it??
@Andrew Knight, We paint the sets. Then Senora B (our director) Has Senor B come in and put them together. We have to get the janators to change the lights and other stuff. We have a small school that would not survive a lawsuit. so they dont risk anything. we are allowed to swep and stuff. Just no power tools and nothing hot. they let us carry heavy things.
@sar-low, wow, makes me feel like we lived on the edge lol. I remember hanging upside down in a homemade harness installing Source 4's under the catwalk because we didn't have a lift. CYA is the rule, I suppose. Break a leg over there, hope it's a great show!
OK so I need some Info.

@sar-low, I was never into twitter much either until my writing got kinda popular. There are great resources for writers on twitter though, even if you only use it for that.
@Andrew Knight, If it helps I am only following Like 2 people. I follow Alex Hirsh and the other is the gravity falls team. If you can search by email on twitter my email is [email protected]
Man, I'm trying to find the perfect opening for the first chapter. But all my ideas come out as 1. too cliche 2. stupid or 3. just totally all over the place. REALLY frustrating!!
You may not want to do this, but when I'm having this problem, I skip over the part I'm struggling with and continue writing. This will ensure that you keep writing and also help later when you go back to finish that particular scene.
@HoldenKern, I usually throw on some music and just relax. It helps me think and map out my intentions. Sometimes, I just bust some words out and it helps me
@Stefani Michelle, I know for sure I'm behind, I just lack the motivation to mover forward. I think I'll space my day into 300 word increments so I don't get overwhelmed
@Andrew Knight, to help me I am making my chapters really short, between 1,000-1,500 words. Normally I like more then 4,000 words per chapter, but this way I can write one chapter in a sitting. At least this motivates me to write. I can get a chapter done really quick, verses dreading to write a full chapter. :)
@Stefani Michelle, I'm the same way. My chapters are normally about 4-5K. But that's normally with my historical fiction stories. With my stories that have modern settings, I can't really get into the world 100% so I just write the story out. My chapters for my NaNo book are about 1.5-1.7K now
@Davrielle, It's a very different writing style that's for sure! I like having shorter chapters. I am jumping from character point of views and just having fun. :D This wouldn't work for any of my other stories lol
Slow morning here. I have begun nesting, so I just finished sorting through all of my baby's future clothes and they are waiting to be washed. A kind lady from church gave us a whole bunch of baby clothes for free. And by a whole bunch, I mean like a department store rack full of clothes. I'm so grateful! But sorting through all of the clothes for the washing tag info was a nightmare lol. I hope to get some writing done during the virtual write in!
@Frances, I know! Everyone is joking about it, including my hubby. He says, "Just watch, we'll all be sitting down for Thanksgiving dinner and she's going to go into labor..." Haha. I'm getting super super close.
@Davrielle, yay!! So exciting!!! Tell you what though, if there is ever a time to be a hungry, late third trimester momma, it's thanksgiving. Y'all timed it good
Scrolled down to see this and was planning on checking in, so yes. I'm going to write a little bit more of my story, now that I'm done with the virtual write-in. I hope to get to 1.6K today. I'll be hopefully able to finish my chapter and move on to the next one, which needs to be written.
@Davrielle, I LOVE Boys over Flowers!! I was about to get into 'secret garden' and 'coffee prince'. I really wish Netflix had this one drama with Lee Min Ho called "Faith", its a whole time travel thing that I really dig
