The second issue didn't fail! In fact the opposite! Now, I definitely know who Maya and Jason are connecting to Sophie. 
I really like the scheme you have going. How it's so wrenching, like how Jason really cares and loves Sophie, but has some type of past that makes him breakaway. Wowwowow! :)
