I agree! Even if you don't think your writing is particularly good at the moment, that's just fine. The point is you are writing. The point is to get into the habit of doing it. Writing this blog for example is GREAT! It doesn't matter if it's poetry or not, just getting into the swing of writing a little every day is important. I think you are doing awesome. You are expressing yourself clearly and concisely, your ideas flowed naturally throughout this entry, that's more than most people can handle! Be kind to yourself and just write what you think, like here, instead of what you feel. Writing is as much cerebral as it is emotional. Maybe this is a good time to work on that aspect?
