I just got started on Wattpad because I want to share my works as much as possible (especially before my main one gets published soon) and Wattpad is... interesting. First off, there are more erotic novels than I've ever seen in an online community, which is odd because the age average of a Wattpad user seems to be a little bit on the younger side. The forum moderators are the Gestapo, and I've immediately and unintetionally joined some kind of rebellious forum counterculture because I tell them off for being that way at every oppertunity I can. I've met some cool people there, but I will probably be recommending them to Penana because, frankly, the writer quality is better here. If I see the words "bad boy" on Wattpad on more time, I'm going to puke. My biggest problem with the site is that there seems to be this general attraction to gargage fiction and all the good stuff gets ignored, which sucks. Also, people do not seem to care one bit about other people's writing unless theres some way it will make their story more popular.
The Color of Darkness has almost a hundred reads and twenty or so votes, which is cool because its only been up there for 3 days. There are some great people on Wattpad, they're just buried in trash fiction culture.
Anyway, rant over! Whats your username, I'll follow you!
I've been on Wattpad for a year now and absolutely love it. You have made some really great observations regarding the pro's and con's of the site, though i don't think i could ever give up on it.
I have found some success on there, but I now need proper feedback. I think due to the amount of people who get rude when given critisim on there, people now avoid giving it out, which really is a shame. You should definitely go back into critiquing, there are those of us who would be super greatful for it!
BTW... that city with the historical attractions and architecture wouldn't happen to be York would it... fellow Brit here :P
Well, I just made an account last Summer (2015) and published there 8 stories (all incomplete but one) and am below 50 readers although I share it often via Facebook and more (I struggle more with getting readers and getting noticed). It's amazing to read your success there! With trolls and bullies don't ever let them make you down in any way. I got one too which I reported instead of deleting the whole story.
My most read story on Wattpad is sitting at 3600+ last time I checked. I've given up on that site and moved here cause I'd like a quieter and contained community. It's amazing reading how you found success there. Something I won't have the time to do so because as you said, you had to be more active in engaging with other writers on the site. I'm on Penana with only a few members and I still find it hard to read, critique and help other writers while balancing working on my own stuff and working for a living.
Anyway glad to have you here sharing your experience! Helps a lot.
Thank you for reading! I'm currently working on my next issue about my experiences on the website Fictionpress and Penana is a lot quieter than Wattpad, I agree :)

But don't let haters get in the way of your writing! ;D
Thanks :D

I joined a lot of Wattpad and writer's groups on Facebook which enabled me to find new readers.
Anyway glad to have you here sharing your experience! Helps a lot.
