妖怪算是靈體，一般人看不見，只有經過修練的陰陽師才能看見。
妖怪與魔獸最大的區別就是虛影與實體。妖怪沒有分陣營，也只是存在於世間的其中一個群體

有妖怪，但相比魔獸這種實體存在，妖怪就沒有那麼活躍。
里奈手裡的式神也都是經調伏的妖怪。
不過在女武神的設定中，大多數妖怪都不會主動襲擊人，只有少數具攻擊性的妖怪才會給人類留下詛咒。
