What I found actually a little humorous (with no offense intended, of course) was the idea that Hell would be a laboratory, when the Church literally founded Europe's first universities and hospitals (with modern universities being modeled after Christian schools and monasteries, and hospitals coming from the knights hospitallers).
The Church was instrumental in preserving classical literature, sponsored countless educational institutions, and was actually one of the oldest major advocates of women's education. Many of the earliest notable female scientists were Catholics, as far back as the 11th century, after all. I mean heck, the list of Catholic contributors to science is so large, Wikipedia broke it up into two separate articles! And that's JUST the Catholics, to say nothing of the other denominations.
Bottom line is, I guess, if Hell's a lab where the free thinkers go, I guess me 'n the rest of the Catholics will see you there X'D
