周文王一詞實乃借用魏武曹操的典故：若天命在吾，吾為周文王

曹操至死沒有篡漢稱帝，不過已經替其子曹丕代漢弄好了基礎。自己身為漢臣，如此可以減少後世文官之筆。這裡拿這句話來套用在李克用身上，情境上增添了幾分意外性與趣味。
