@MarsianWarrior, nah man, I was given a giant book of them for my birthday and I used to read them everyday of my own volition! I was pretty much your age. I loved the stories and the cool pictures that came with them

@MarsianWarrior, you gotta remember that this was in a time where kids died easily on a daily basis. We're very sheltered in the modern world. Parents had to teach kids to be strong from a young age or they could get murdered, eaten, tricked or just fall down a ditch and snap their neck. That's the old world for ya.
