I am finding the exact same experience on Fictionpress ... it is like working in a vacuum. I don't write to make money but I would at least like to hear every once in a while that someone is having a laugh ... or a good scare ... or cry ... or whatever over what I'm writing. LOL. After talking to a few long time members at both Fanfiction.net and Fictionpress.com is that the communities were once quite active but lately it seems no one wants to bother giving any R&R. Sad because there are some really good reads on both sites.
I was in Fictionpress first since 2010 but I changed pseudonyms moved to Wattpad and then remade a new account in Fictionpress but didn't follow anymore. Fictionpress seems stricter in posting stories like you have to wait for the posts to be up and it was really harder to get reviews there. The more chapters you add to your story without the orange "reviews" beside it, the lesser are your chances to get anymore in the future. Most people there just check the stories already with some reviews on them. So it's really all luck.
What I only liked abut Fictionpress is that there were more mature writers and I've read really great engaging pieces there. They all probably moved somewhere else.
I agree, Fictionpress did have some mature writers. I follow someone who has written over 300 stories and completed them (well, 95% of them) and they are pretty good. Inkitt has a lot of mature writers who take writing seriously so I think lots of people went there including myself :)
I totally agree with you about the writer perspective here when you need few reviews of your work. It's kind of frustrating with the stillness there, like calling out in a cave and you only hear the echo. If you want to you could message me here your pen name and I can follow you there and give feedbacks. Could you give me in return few feedbacks of my work?
Sure! I'm ScarlettRose7 but just warning in advance that the two works on my profile are very very old and rough drafts that I've since changed and reposted on my Wattpad but I agree with your points :)
