Apparently this "Connor" has not manipulated him once but twice -- three times if you count each parent separately-- and Kieran kinda allowed this to happen. At least from how I'm interpreting this. It's unpublished because I'm rewriting the story and haven't gotten to this part yet :P Poor Connor is actually Kieran's younger brother, who Kieran uses to pin the blame on his own impulses. After he kills his friend, he uses his hatred of Connor to justify it, kind of a "I didn't kill him, Connor did." It gets more into it in the story later :)
