故事脈絡簡單明瞭：男主曾用豐厚物質交到很多朋友，後來當他健康惡化、一無所有時這幫狐朋狗友離他而去，他才明白物質的豐裕換不來真摯的情感，因此到文尾他再次走向人生巔峯時因爲身邊無一個真正的朋友，也感到了非常的空虛。
故事情節並不新穎，更多的是靠主角真實的心路歷程給予讀者的共鳴感，使故事另有一番風味。文末豐厚的資產和孤獨的個體的對比強化了「空虛感」，也是處理得比較不錯的地方。
