Also I know the novel's finished, but for future writing, I'd like to offer some advice on dialogue -- specifically the punctuation.
So, when something ends with a dialogue tag (which is basically a small phrase [he said, she exclaimed, he started, they shouted, she interjected, he retorted, and it goes on] that describes the dialogue and how it's said) there should be a comma, and the beginning of the tag should be lowercase. This is ONLY if there is a dialogue tag.
EX:
"IF YOU DON'T MIND," the lady interjected heatedly.
*A good way to remember this is to pretend the quotation marks aren't there - like, you put them, but disregard them. Having: IF YOU DON'T MIND. The lady interjected heatedly wouldn't be right. IF YOU DON'T MIND, the lady interjected heatedly would sound more correct since the phrases are joined. Then just regard the quotation marks.*
This also applies to exclamations and questions. Keep the exclamation or question mark, but lowercase the dialogue tag.
This doesn't need to apply if an ACTION is followed after. EX: "Absolutely." The robber nodded..." This is correct, there's no need for a comma since the phrases can stand as separate sentences.
It can be hard to grasp, but keeping a few rules in mind can help! :)
