The story was originally a project for reading, where the theme was staying true to yourself. the end is supposed to signify that both twins had been brought up taught to stay together, so if Rayna didn't stay with her twin, she wouldn't be staying true to herself. The parents aren't thinking about getting them out as much as they are glad that the twin's morals never changed.
Okay, the end part confused me. Wouldn't the parents be trying to get the two out of jail, instead of being relieved that they're together? Just a thought.
