This chapter had my heart racing! I absolutely loved the tense build-up when Damon hurried to prepare the meal, the way his exhaustion and hidden pain were described made me feel so protective of him. The moment his mother yanked his hair and the guard’s icy orders dropped in really ramped up the suspense. I’m totally hooked :)))
