I'm almost stunned speechless, if I'm completely honest. I mean that 100%. I have chills and I'm tearing up, mostly because I suppose I can relate to Michael's entire thought process here. When he jumps and there's that sudden realization that he doesn't really want to die, that is terrifying.
I do have a suggestion. It's not really clear why Michael has decided to jump, or kill himself. I like the idea that there's nothing super serious going on that's making him act on impulse; this is something he's seriously thought about, so maybe you could dive into that a tiny bit, especially considering this is the only insight we get to Michael's head for the story (you did say that the rest was in third person through various people's heads right?) Otherwise, I really am not sure what else to say? I'm astounded by how sucked in I was and the road names and stories that went with the places, it really created a vivid picture of what Michael is going through.
I really would love to read more to this, and I think that even if it takes you the rest of your life, you should finish this story.

Michael's motivations are explored in the coming chapters, I assure you.
