There's a story that I really want to write, but I keep procrastinating on doing it. Do you have any tips?

@Twisted Pear, Depends on what works best for you. But I do have a few. Try just one at first:
1) stop trying to write and get to know your character. Know what he/she/they will do in different situations. As you go about your day, ask yourself what your character would do. I find that as I flesh out my characters, its much easier to bunker down and write.
2) You dont have to write in order. I keep a notebook with me and jot down scenes, much like teasers for a movie. Theyre not in any particular order. But as you continue to write parts of your book, the whole process becomes easier. 
3) Talk your scenes out loud. Yes its weird. So do it when no one is watching 😅. But i find that sometimes talking helps me think it through.
4) You don't have to start at the beginning of your book. You can start anywhere. I, more often than not, know how my book ends before i know how it starts
5) Remember you can always write another draft. Sometimes i feel like everything has to be perfect thr first time around. It doesnt. Throw your ideas on paper and then go back through it. Rome wasnt built in a day.
6) Love your story. If you dont love it, your readers can sense that. If youre not feeling it, take a breather or tweak it until you fall back in love with your characters. Sometimes the best fate for a story is walking away or morphing it into something else.
7) Talk your idea out with someone. I use this as a last resort as i dont have many friends who enjoy my stories, but i fins it extremely helpful to take it out with someone who can give me instant feedback and direction. Doesnt have to be anyone special, like an editor. I use my sister and she always had great tweaks to my stories.

@Twisted Pear, is there anything in particular that youve tried and either doesnt work, or doesn't work as well as you want it to?

@Nic. Slater, I tried to give myself monthly or weekly goals, but I never actually can keep up with it.

Planning is also one of my biggest problem. I have an idea, but I don't know how to write it, and even if I did, I can't figure out what to do after that. So when I get to that point, I just feel like "taking a break", and the break ends up never ending.
