Wow! After reading the first issue, the first thing I thought was, awesome! One thing, I wasn't sure the tone of the mom's voice after the "got homework" part, so maybe say whether it was stern, or soft, or caring, or worried. Because I know any of those can be a mom's reaction depending on their personality. Just to build the character more. 
And also, I got a little confused who Maya was, and Sophie's connection to Jason. Brother, more like boyfriend? 
Nevertheless, I was blown away. It sounds great like a novel at a bookstore. Keep going!
