I envy your ability to give descriptions, it helps set the scene and immediatley puts the reader in the 'fantasy' state of mind. I'm enjoying it, and will keep on following up :)

On a funny note, the word 'lief' means Love in dutch and is used similarly to the word 'dear', so I can't help read his name as 'My love Lance'/'Dear Lance'
