Today, I will be married. At least the ceremony is not today. Today, I just have to meet my future husband and sign papers. I might like him. I hope that I like him. If not, I have no choice but to marry him and live under his roof and cook for him.
I walk out of my room, sleepily and watch my mom make breakfast. I yawn constantly. "How you'd sleep, honey?" She asks. "I was okay. You?" I ask. "Same old. Me being an old woman now is not helping me." She answers. "Mom, 45 is not old. It's actually quite young next to my 24." I say. "Oh, you're so sweet. Thank you for coming over last night and staying the night. I know you have your own apartment and everything but, thank you, still." She answers.
"Mom, why do I have to get married?" I whine. "Chun-Ae, please don't start with me." My mom says. "I don't want to get married though!" I say. "It's not your choice!" Mom says and slams her hand down. I flinch. I've never seen her be so upset before. "Besides, you might like him." She says, calming herself down. "Fine," I say and wait for breakfast.
My dad stalks into the kitchen. He kisses my forehead. "Good morning," He says. "Good morning." I say. "Today is the day," He says. "I know, dad." I say. "Oh, honey, cheer up." He says. "Maybe," I say and smile. My parents have always known how to cheer me up. My family are like 3 peas in a pod, me being an only child.
After breakfast, I check my phone as I walk up stairs to change. My best friend, Zhi, is texting me. I yawn again.

"Get up, now, Yoongi!" My mother yells into my ear through my phone. "Why? I don't want to be married." I say. She says and hangs up. "Women are crazy." I say.
I get up and take a shower. "I don't want to fucking get married. I'm only 28." I mumble. After my shower, I put on a silk button down shirt that hangs loosely on my body. I put on black jeans and new shoes. I slide a thin chain around my neck and put a hanging earring in my ear. I look at myself in the mirror.
I look dead. I brush my teeth and walk out of my bathroom. I grab my phone off of the charger and my car keys. My closest friend is texting me.

"Can we get this over with, please?" I say. "Yes, let's do that." My mom says. We walk down a hall and into a room where I have to sit next to this Yoongi guy.

At home, I pull off my shoes and lay down on my couch. I turn the TV on and watch Netflix. My phone rings and there is an unknown number. I hit decline. The number calls again. I hit decline again. I stare at my phone. Who is calling me?

Please, can we just meet up?" I say. "I-" She hesitates. "Fine." She says. "Good. See you on Friday at the mall. How about noon?" I ask. "Sure." She says. She hangs up on me. I smirk at my phone. Maybe I will like her. She amuses me. I chuckle.
