I expected the shedding rain as I walked out of my house.

I expected the blasting radio as I sat into the driver's seat.

I expected myself singing along enthusiastically to the tunes.

I expected myself to go visit the hospital where my grandmother stayed.

I expected a short 10 minutes drive.

Yet,

I never expected this.

I reached the hospital, but not in my own car.

I saw the students running across the road, in the rain.

I couldn't brake my car completely.

What should I do?

Let my car swerve into a lamppost?

Or rush into the rain and pretend that the two students were never dead?

I choked out laughter, laughing even until my last breath.

I sped into the source of light.

Why do I love two kids, two strangers more than myself?

I never knew the answer.

My soul flew up into the sky,

watching my body,

burning beautifully as the sky cried.
