(as this is also a very long, you can cut this short too.)
A shelter from the hot sun, a cloud came to the rescue. Put me in the shadow, the great cloud hovered over me. Cool it was in the darkness of the cloud. But it continued moving, away from me. A tiny pack of clouds trailed it, like ducklings swimming behind its mother. The blazing sun! I ran to a nearby tree along with my dolls. Rays of sunlight passed between the green leaves. About 30 to 45 green mangoes lay on the ground rotting. I leaned against the tree. Its cool shade gave me pleasure. I drifted off to sleep. I entered my timeless world, where the sky is lavender in color and the sun is in the middle of the sky and the moon is always to the east and the stars are spread like wheat across the sky. Sometimes I wonder what it must be like to have no time at all. No day and no night, no 10am school, no 6pm tuition, no due dates for homework, oh! All the happiness you get! But there will be no birthday, no holidays, no summer or winter and no money at all. No change in the world without time. How would it be in a world like that? I was woken by a crow, pecking on my nose. It is already getting dark. I went back to my house, it was unusually dark and quiet. Mummy and Daddy must be still at work. Or… am I still dreaming? I asked myself. I bent down and touched the floor, it was cold. I lay down on the floor at the entrance door thinking, “Mummy and Daddy should be back by now. Oh well, maybe they had more work to do. What about Didi? Where must she be? Maybe she went to help Mummy and Daddy.” I went back to my room holding my dolls in my hands. I sat under the beaming moonlight at my window. The moon is such a pretty pearl. I don’t know how to light the oil lamps, but it doesn’t matter to me, I’ve got a torch and the moon for me and that’s all I need.
I went to the kitchen with a torch in one hand and my prettiest doll in the other. I put my torch on the floor and opened the lid of a big silver bowl and smelled the inside of the bowl. Chicken! I sniffed again. Chicken Biryani! My favorite. I put my doll safely and carefully on the lid. I picked up my torch and searched for a plate. I found a plate and a large spoon on top of it. I took the spoon and put a little rice and a whole lot of chicken on my plate. I took the torch and the plate to the sitting room. My doll! Oh no! I remembered I put my doll on the lid. I carefully put the plate on the floor and with the torch I went back to the kitchen, closed the lid, took my doll and went back to the sitting room. I sat on the floor with the light of the torch facing me and my plate and my doll beside me. The chicken biriyani is amazing as usual. After I finished the plate, I took the torch with my left hand as my right is a bit dirty. I went to the bathroom, washed my right hand and went to my room with my doll I kept at the plate and played under the moonlight. I felt sleepy after a while and went to bed with my dolls and prayed to God to take my plate and wash it for me so that I don’t get scolded first thing in the morning. I had a feeling God wouldn’t do that for me because He is not my servant but I let it go because I don’t really care if I get scolded. Mummy and Didi always scold me so that’s kind of usual for me. I said good night to all my dolls and I went to sleep.

I woke up at what seemed to be midnight. There was no moon outside. I took the torch and turned it on and faced it against the clock on the wall. I did not know how to read the clock but the shorter stick was between 3 and 4. I switched off the torch, there was no use of it now. I couldn’t sleep at all. I don’t know why. I didn’t want to play either. So, I just stared at the ceiling, waiting for Ms. Sunny to come. You know who I mean, don’t you? Ms. Sunny hates Ms. Shainey, I don’t know exactly why. I don’t want to explain to you who Ms. Shainey is. Let it be a mystery, you’ll find out who I mean later. It’s pretty obvious.
Anyway, slowly the sky turned blue and Ms. Sunny came. She looks pretty in the morning (only). She’s the one who tells me to go to school in the morning. Actually, when I come to think of it, she tells everybody what to do when. She’s quite fierce in the afternoons. And calm at dawn and dusk. She’s really good at keeping everything in order. She’s also the best farmer in the world. You probably have got an idea of who I am talking about, right? I looked out the window. Ms. Sunny looked very beautiful, especially today because she was smiling. The flowers were smiling with her too. Ms. Shainey was there too, but she is leaving. I think Mr. Whistle is happy too, so are the nameless clouds, foreigners, happy to see this beautiful place.
As Mr. Whistle blew through my hair, I saw the Fish Lady coming towards my house, running. Does she have some kind of offer? Or does she a special kind of fish? I went to the entrance to see what happened and then the Fish Lady came to me, cupped my face, hugged me and kissed my forehead. She usually looks at me with disgust. I don't know what's going on. And then she said, “come, let’s go to your uncle’s house, you’ll be safe there.” I was confused, what was happening? Why should I go to Uncle’s house? Who’s Uncle? Where is Mummy and Daddy? Where is Didi?
