Smriti doesn’t know where she is going. She just goes. Her aimless wandering has taken her into many places and into many troubles. This is not a habit she started recently. This is how she reconnects with her childhood, when she was allowed to wander around her neighborhood. Later on in her childhood, because of all the troubles she got into, she was locked inside her house, only allowed to go to school.
Smriti passed by the bakery ‘Amour’, crossed the street and faced the tailor’s shop ‘Stitches’. Beautiful dresses were displayed through the shop’s windows. She walked away from it. ‘Wealth and Beauty are an illusion.’ She reminded herself. She walked on and on, on the footpath, passing by houses and people and dogs and cats. Her mind wandered farther, much farther away, she was lost in time.
In that foggy afternoon, she enjoyed her summer evening and enjoyed it well into the night, where she stood in front of the sunset, stargazing.

She sat on a rock and watched the sun sink into the sea. She, still lost in her dreams, breathed in the moist, earthy air, closed her eyes to pause her breathing for a moment or two, till sense came back to her and then she heaved a sigh. She opened her eyes to see the sun disappear into the haze and the royal blue ink spill on the vast sky.

Smriti stood up and looked around her. She had never seen this place before. She then decided to book a room somewhere and rest for the night, until the day shines brightly tomorrow, or so she thought.
