Seo-joon jumped from the wall. He looked at the girl who was getting bullied.
He stood in front of Sabitri. He took a pause.
He calmly walked toward Sang-joon.
“What?” Sang-joon asked.
“Don’t you think it’s wrong to bully someone?” Seo-joon asked in a cold voice.
Ye-joon and Sang-joon started to laugh.
“So, you teach me what is right?”
Sang-joon said insolently and walked toward Seo-joon.
Seo-joon's anger was fully showed through his eyes.
“You know, I am a teacher,” Seo-joon said calmly, taking off his glasses.
“So?!” Ye-joon said mockingly.
“So, it’s my responsibility to teach you.” Seo-joon said and suddenly punched Sang-joon on his cheek.
“What the…?!” Sabitri thought nervously.
“Hey, hey… calm down.” Sabitri tried to stop them.
“You!... Son of a bitch!..” Sang-joon said, and as he tried to punch Seo-joon, Sabitri stopped his hand.
“Hey!” Ye-joon shouted from beside and suddenly grabbed Sabitri’s hair.
Before Seo-joon could do something…
Sabitri’s face became scary.
Her irritation and anger was working together.
“How dare you?!!” Sabitri shouted at him in extreme anger and kicked him as she turned around.
Ye-joon fell down. Sabitri pulled him up again and punched him on his forehead.
“How dare you to touch my hair?!Do you want to die?”Sabitri said, her eyes had a scary anger.
“Hey!!” Ye-joon shouted and tried to kick Sabitri.
But she grabbed his leg.
Seo-joon and Sang-joon stood there speechless, watching like it was a show.
Suddenly, they heard the police car’s siren.
“Oh, shit!” Sang-joon said and tried to run away.
Seo-joon caught his collar from behind.
“Don’t run away in the middle of the game,” Seo-joon said.
Seo-joon gave a devilish smile as he turned around.
“Hey! Stop!.. Call the ambulance.” A policeman shouted as he got down from the car.
“Everyone, get in the car,” he said.
“But… but…” Sabitri tried to explain, but the policeman didn’t care to listen.
Seo-joon looked at her in frustration with fiery eyes.
They got into the car.Sabitri looked towards that girl once.
“Jeez!” Seo-joon rolled his eyes in frustration.
Everyone got down at the police station.
“You, give your parents’ contact,” a policeman asked Sabitri as they entered the police station.
“Hmm?”
“Give your parents’ contact,” the policeman repeated.
“If Mom finds out, I will be dead. Huh, why do I get stuck in every trouble?!” Sabitri thought.
Tension and fear were both working together.
“Excuse me, I am… her teacher, those boys were bullying that girl. So she went there to save her” Seo-joon said and showed his ID.
“Yes!I informed the police station too.” Sabiri said.
The policeman took it and checked it carefully.
“Hmm…but it’s risky,next time don’t jump anywhere alone.Okay, sign here.” He handed a paper to Seo-joon.
“Yes.” He signed it.
They got out of the police station, both walking in silence.
Sabitri looked at him once with fear in her eyes.
“Ah… sir, thanks for the help, and sorry,” Sabitri said hesitantly.
Seo-joon looked at her once but said nothing.
After a pause, he said angrily…
“You know that it was risky? You shouldn’t have gone there alone. What would have happened if I didn’t come?”
“Huh! You messed it all up. Who told you to punch him?!” Sabitri shouted loudly.
“What would you have done if I didn’t? Would you get bullied with her too?!” Seo-joon shouted.
Seo-joon’s voice carried worry underneath the anger.
“I called the police before getting down,” she said.
Seo-joon looked at her with fiery eyes.
“I’m going to report you to your parents, huh!” Seo-joon shouted at her and flicked her forehead.
“Ash!.. What?! No… no, sir! Sir? I was just kidding. Sorry!” She said from the behind softly but he walked away.
“You trouble queen!” Sabitri said out loud in disappointment, almost crying.
Sabitri took her cycle and went home.
“Mom, I’m home,” Sabitri said.
“Yes, come. You’re late,” Sabitri’s mom said while reading a book.
“Yes… uh… we were studying, Mom,” Sabitri said.
“Oh my God, you were studying?! Never. I don’t believe it,” Su-ho said while watching TV.
“I don’t believe it… Who told you to believe it? Huh?!” Sabitri mocked her brother.
“Mom, I’m sure she was with her boyfriend,” Su-ho said.
“Who said that?!” Sabitri shouted at him.
In anger, she put her bag down and grabbed her brother’s neck from behind.
“Uh! Then why are you reacting? You stupid!” Su-ho said and grabbed her head back.
“You better shut up.” Sabitri moved away.
Sabitri took a pillow from the sofa and started beating Su-ho with it.
“You!” Su-ho farted on her and ran to his room.
“Eww! Idiot!” Sabitri shouted while closing her nose.
“Mom!” Sabitri shouted angrily.
“Su-ho! You’ll be beaten by me!” Sabitri’s mom shouted.
“I’ll scold him. Go and freshen up,” Sabitri’s mom said to her.
“Huh! You love your son more. Just keep him in your bag,” Sabitri said loudly and went back to her room. She shut the door.
“Seriously, is this a home or a battlefield? I’m tired of stopping their fights,” Sabitri’s mom said in frustration.
Sabitri opened the door again.
“Tomorrow is PTM,” Sabitri said and closed the door again,Sabitri's mom looking at the door.
And here was Seo-joon. He was walking toward his home. He looked at his watch and started walking faster.
Suddenly, someone stopped a car near him and got out.
Seo-joon looked at him.
“Woojin..?” Seo-joon asked surprisingly.
“Yes! How are you?” Woojin asked and hugged him dramatically.
Seo-joon removed his hands awkwardly.
“You are still the same,” Seo-joon said hesitantly.
“Yes, for you,” Woojin said.
“What?” Seo-joon asked.
“Nothing. So… how’s life going?” Woojin ignored it and replied.
“Well, as always,” Seo-joon replied with a forceful smile.
“Sit down. I’ll drive you,” Woojin said.
“No, no. That’s okay,” Seo-joon denied.
“Uh, please.” Woojin requested again.
Seo-joon looked at his watch and got into the car.
“Long time no see,” Woojin said while driving.
“Yes. By the way, when did you return to Korea?” Seo-joon asked.
“Yesterday. Last time we met was at our graduation ceremony, right? I thought you would have forgotten me,” Woojin replied.
Seo-joon chuckled.
“I heard you left the military?” Woojin asked.
Seo-joon’s face suddenly became calm. He got lost in deep thought.
“Hey, are you here?” Woojin asked and laughed.
“Yes? Yes… nothing. I was just tired,” Seo-joon replied.
“Uh… Seo-joon, will you go somewhere with me?” Woojin asked excitedly.
“Why? Where?” Seo-joon asked.
Woojin stopped the car and showed him a lottery ticket.
“I won second prize in this lottery,” Woojin said excitedly.
“You too?” Seo-joon asked.
“What?” Woojin asked.
“Min-ho won the first prize. Don’t you think it’s a scam?” Seo-joon said as he started the car again.
“No!You have to come.” Woojin replied and started to drive.
“Stop, stop, stop,” Seo-joon suddenly said.
Woojin stopped the car.
Seo-joon got down.
“So, you live here,” Woojin said.
“Yes,” Seo-joon replied.
“Tomorrow, 9 PM. Okay, bye,” Woojin said and left.
Seo-joon entered the apartment, but the lift was off, so he started walking up the stairs.
Sabitri took a shower and came out of the bathroom. She started drying her hair in front of the mirror.
Suddenly, she got a notification.
She lay down on her bed and took her phone.
It was from their group chat.
“Sabitri, why were you at the police station? Did something happen?” Sang-joon asked.
Sabitri was surprised.
“Nothing. I was just passing by,” Sabitri replied.
“Hey, don’t lie. I saw you coming out of the police station with our homeroom teacher,” Sang-joon replied.
“Homeroom teacher? Ohhh!” Sa-ra replied teasingly.
“Nah, it’s a long story,” Sabitri replied.
“Oh! What’s going on, brother?” Sa-ra teased Sabitri.
“Oh, did you get another model?” Sang-joon suddenly asked.
Sabitri suddenly remembered that Seo-joon said he would report her to her mom.
“No, no, no,” Sabitri thought.
“Did you get it?” Sang-joon asked again.
“Yes, but I’m thinking about something else,” Sabitri replied.
“What?” Sa-ra asked.
“That dinosaur, our homeroom teacher, said he would complain to my mom about me. And tomorrow is PTM,” Sabitri replied with a crying emoji.
“Oh my God. What now?” Sang-joon replied in surprise.
“Guys, it’s simple. Gift him something and shut his mouth,” Sa-ra replied.
“Oh yes! That’s a good idea,” Sabitri became happy in a second.
She opened the camera and recorded a flying kiss. Then she sent the video in the group.
“That’s so clingy,” Sang-joon said and left the chat.
Sabitri and Sa-ra started laughing.
She suddenly got another notification from her cooking page.
Curiously, she opened it.
“Hii, I am from Cloud,” an unknown person messaged.
“What? Are you from the sky?” Sabitri replied.
“No, I’m from Cloud. It’s our company’s name. We are organizing a cooking competition. We saw your videos. Would you like to take part in it?” the person replied.
“Is there really a company named ‘Cloud’?” Sabitri thought.
But suddenly, her day felt a little worth it again.
“Would you?” the person messaged again.
She sat down excitedly after hearing the notification sound.
“Yes,” Sabitri replied.
“Okay, then come to this address tomorrow at 9 PM for registration and demo,” the person replied again.
“Okay, thanks,” Sabitri replied.
Sabitri put her phone aside and lay down on her bed.
She smiled and couldn’t sleep from excitement.
The next morning, Sabitri was helping her mom at the bookshop.
“Mom, aren’t you coming to PTM?” Sabitri asked.
“Hmm, I will,” Sabitri’s mom replied while reading a book.
A little girl came to the counter with a book.
“Hello, I want this. How much is it?” she asked.
Sabitri turned around.
“Yes?” Sabitri asked with a smile.
“I want to buy this,” the little girl repeated.
“Yes, it’s…” Before Sabitri could complete the sentence, someone shouted—
“Hey, Su-bin! I told you not to come here. Didn’t you hear me?!” a middle-aged man shouted at the little girl.
Sabitri’s mom looked at him.
It was Sabitri’s dad.
“Su-bin, let’s go,” he said.
“No, I want to buy it,” the little girl said stubbornly.
A well-dressed woman entered the shop.
“Su-bin, can’t you see this lower-class trash?!” the woman said.
Anger was clearly visible on Sabitri’s face, but she still stayed calm.
Sabitri took the cleaner spray from the table and started spraying it on them.
“Ugh! We don’t like insects around us,” Sabitri said and continued spraying.
Sabitri’s mom continued reading her book calmly and ignored them.
“Hey, hey!” the woman shouted.
Sabitri stopped and glared at them with fiery eyes, signaling them to get out.
“Jeez! Su-bin, let’s go,” the woman whispered in frustration and dragged the little girl away.
Sabitri rolled her eyes and went back to work.
She started searching through the bookshelves as if looking for something specific.
“What are you looking for?” Sabitri’s mom asked.
“Nothing,” she replied while still searching.
Finally, relief appeared on her face.
She was holding a book named Life Star.
“Take those books to the shelf,” Sabitri’s mom said.
Sabitri put the book on the table and started arranging the books.
After finishing, she took her bag and secretly placed the book inside it.
“Bye, Mom,” Sabitri said and left with her cycle.
When she reached school, she saw Seo-joon walking toward the gate.
She quickly went near him.
“Stop, stop, stop!” Sabitri called out.
Seo-joon looked back and stopped.
Sabitri got down from her cycle and walked toward him.
“Sir…” She cleared her throat nervously.
“Yes?” he asked.
She dramatically held the book toward Seo-joon and bowed her head deeply.
“Sir, I’m sorry for yesterday. I’ll never do anything like that again… promise… no, I mean, I won’t. Sorry. Please don’t tell my mom…” Sabitri said desperately.
“Hey…” Seo-joon called her.
“No, sir! I’m sorry. Please, I won’t get up until you forgive me and take this book,” she continued dramatically.
“Hey! How dare you?!” Seo-joon suddenly shouted.
Sabitri stood straight in shock.
“What is this?!” Seo-joon asked angrily.
“A book. This one is really good. I’m reading it too,” Sabitri replied confidently.
But the moment her eyes landed on the cover, she froze in horror.
The book’s name was ‘The Weird Night’ and instead of ‘Life Star', the cover had a bikini-wearing woman on it.
Sabitri looked at Seo-joon.
Both stared at each other silently.
“Have you read this kind of book?!” Seo-joon whispered.
“No… no, no, no,” Sabitri stuttered in a shaky voice.
“No, sir! Let me explain!”
She tried to speak, but Seo-joon already started walking away.
Sabitri grabbed her cycle and hurried beside him.
“No, sir! Actually, it got exchanged. It’s not my fault!I am not like that.I don’t read this.” Sabitri tried to explain desperately.
She was almost crying.
Seo-joon suddenly stopped and looked at her with fiery eyes before walking away again.
“No!!! Why does this always happen to me?! Jeez!” Sabitri shouted in frustration while talking to herself.
Just then, Sang-joon and Sa-ra came toward her.
“What did he say?” Sa-ra asked excitedly.
“The book got exchanged…” Sabitri said weakly while showing them the book.
Sa-ra and Sang-joon looked at the cover and burst into laughter.
They quickly stopped after Sabitri glared at them.
“Oh God!” Sabitri groaned in frustration and walked away.
Sabitri and Sang-joon were sitting outside the room where PTM was being held.
“Where is my mom? The whole class is already done,” Sabitri said while yawning.
“What about my dad?” Sang-joon muttered.
“Where’s Sa-ra, by the way?” Sabitri asked.
“She’s downstairs getting scolded by her mom for the past hour,” Sang-joon replied while pointing downstairs.
“Ugh! Well deserved,” Sabitri said.
“I’m here.”
Two voices spoke at the same time from opposite directions.
Yes, they were Sabitri’s mom and Sang-joon’s dad.
As they came closer, both suddenly stopped and stared at each other like they shared a deep past.
“You!” Sang-joon’s dad said in shock.
“You both know each other?” Sabitri asked curiously.
“Tae-sik…” Sabitri’s mom called softly.
“Tae-sik? Tae… what?!” Sabitri said in surprise.
“What?” Sang-joon asked in confusion.
“He’s Mom’s ex,” Sabitri whispered dramatically.
“What?! Dad has an ex?!” Sang-joon shouted in shock.
At that moment, Seo-joon came out of the room.
“Please, both of you come inside together,” Seo-joon said before going back inside.
Sabitri’s mom and Sang-joon’s dad entered the room silently.
“What’s going on?” Sang-joon asked.
“A long story,” Sabitri replied.
“I’m dead today,” Sabitri sighed dramatically.
Tae-sik and Beni were sitting in a café.
“Excuse me,” Tae-sik called the waiter.
“Yes, sir?” the waiter asked.
“Two cappuccinos without sugar,” he ordered.
“You still remember?” Beni asked with a smile.
“Hmm,” he replied.
“So, how’s life going? What about your husband?” he asked.
“Well… we got divorced. I have a daughter and a son. What about you?” Beni replied and asked again..
Their order arrived.
“Well, as always… My wife died eighteen years ago. My son and I live alone now,” Tae-sik replied.
For a few minutes, both stayed silent while sipping their coffee.
“Tae-sik,” Beni called softly.
“Yes?” he replied quickly.
“Sorry,” she said in a calm, regretful voice.
He looked at her quietly.
“Why?” he asked.
“I should have trusted you. I’m sorry,” she said. Regret was clearly visible on her face.
Tae-sik smiled faintly.
“I don’t think it was love if there was no trust between us… I’m sorry too. I gave up too easily,” he replied.
She didn’t say anything back.
Both sat there silently for some time.
Then they went outside.
“Let me drive you home,” Tae-sik offered.
Beni nodded.
He called a taxi, and both got in.
They reached her home, and she got down.
“Bye,” Tae-sik said.
“Bye,” Beni replied.
The taxi drove away while Beni stood there, watching it from behind.
Finally, she turned toward her house.
Sabitri was walking home with her cycle, thinking about the embarrassing situation from the morning.
What a horribly wasted day!” she thought while sipping chocolate milk.
"I can't believe,my mom's ex is Sang-joon's dad?" She talked with herself.
Suddenly, she got a notification.
“Aren’t you coming?” the unknown person messaged again.
“Oh, shit! I almost forgot,” Sabitri realized and quickly turned back.
She reached the address.
But there stood a huge abandoned house decorated with lights.
“Is this the place? Or did I come to the wrong address?” Sabitri wondered.
“Okay, let’s see,” she thought and entered the house.
No one was there.
“Huh? Why is nobody here?” Sabitri wondered.
“Hello? Is anyone here?” She called out, but nobody answered.
“No, this doesn’t feel right. Something is off,” Sabitri thought and tried to message that person again.
But there was no network.
“Shit!”
Sabitri walked toward the gate, but she couldn’t open it.
The gate was locked.
“What the hell?!” Sabitri shouted.
She immediately became alert.
Slowly, she walked upstairs.
It felt like someone was standing right behind her.
She quickly turned around.
But nobody was there.
Sabitri took a pen from her bag and held it tightly like a weapon.
She walked toward a window and tried to open it. It was locked too.
She looked around once and suddenly broke the window glass with the pen.
But suddenly—
Someone grabbed her neck from behind.
Before she could even scream, somebody pushed an injection into her neck.
Her vision slowly became blurry.
Everything around her started becoming unclear.
And then—
She fell down unconscious.
When Sabitri opened her eyes again, she realized she was lying inside a room.
Someone familiar was lying right in front of her face with his eyes closed.
Yes, you guessed right.
It was Seo-joon.
Sabitri looked at him silently with softened eyes.
Suddenly, Seo-joon opened his eyes.
Their eyes met.
