"What are you guys doing!" Zenah screamed. The adrenaline rush she was still on lifted her into the air to plow into the man on Zach's back.
"Get off of him, now." She screamed.
"Oh ho ho, what have we here guys? The alphas daughter at last showing her true colors? Jake, take her down. If she doesn't cooperate, knock her out."
"You wouldn't dare; my father would have your heads." Zenah snarled as she was lifted off the man's broad shoulders.
"How do you think sent us here, I guess we've seen enough."
"What is the meaning of this? Get your hands off my daughter, now." Zenah's mother stormed out of the back room, her eyes blazing.
"Ma'am, we've been sent by your husband to protect you and your daughter from this cat. We saw the vampires in here with him. Did he bring them here to attack you?" The leader of the four stepped towards her.
"Are you a total moron," she slapped him across the cheek. The impact echoed through the room. "He was protecting us, Harold."
The man's eyes blazed red for a second before her got his anger in check. "We have our orders from the alpha himself. We are to capture this cat and bring it to him. He will decide his fate."
"NO! You can't, he'll kill him!" Zenah pushed against the arms that held her. Yet like iron they stayed, holding her arms fast behind her back.
"And why should that matter to you little lady? He's just your instructor, right?" She looked up to see, and man named Leroy staring down at her. He was one of the many wolves she had turned down time and time again over the years.
Out of the corner of her eye Zenah watched her mother shake her head no.
"He's a good instructor; this is the closest one to the den. Why do you think I'm here?"
"Ah huh, that's what I thought. Now get those two in the back of the van, the mother rides with us in the front." Leroy barked.
Minutes later Zenah was in the back of a large moving van. Zach's head was cradled in her arms, a bump on it the size of a quarter.
"What are we going to do now? He's going to want to kill you, if anything just to punish me for being so stupid." How could she have thought she could get away with this. Now they both were going to get punished, and they both would die, Zach today, her later.
It wasn't until they were minutes from the Den that she saw Zach stir. His head twitched, then he sat bolt upright from her lap.
"What happened?" He winced, brought his hand to his head and felt the bump.
"Oh right, now I remember. How close are we?" He asked as he lay back down.
"We're just pulling into the drive. That means we're almost there." Zenah began stroking his dark hair. "What are we going to do? He's going to want to kill you. The instant he finds out who you are he's going to want you dead."
"But why, sure I'm a tom which always makes me a target, but why would he want to kill me so badly." He watched Zenah's head drop.
"Because your father nearly ripped his arm off before he was able to kill him. He resents him for that, and through him he's going to hate you."
"And through me he'll hate you," He reached up, running his hand through her long black hair. "I will not let him hurt you, I can't. So just stay behind me and we'll get out of this somehow." He tried to give her one of his sly grins but failed. The blood running down the side of his cheek made the expression look forced.
"You stay behind me. I might be able to talk him out of this." Zenah got to her feet; the van came to a stop and the back door opened.
Without warning three men jumped in and dragged Zach out letting him fall to the gravel the instant he was clear of the van. Zenah leaped out the doors and took one of them in the back. A kidney punch sent him to the ground with a whimper. An angry snarl later and she was over Zach, trying to shield him from the other two.
"You bitch!" The taller of the two shouted, his massive hand catching her in the side of the head. Stars exploded in her vision, and she spiraled towards the ground.
"You idiot!" The other man shouted up at the larger man. "She may be a traitor to her own race, but she's still the alphas daughter. I am not going to be the one explaining the mark you just left on her. Now pick him up and let's go." With a grunt the mountain of a man bent over and hefted Zach over his shoulder like a sack of grain.
About an hour later Zach lay in the middle of a circular room. Along the outer walls stood men shoulder to shoulder, every one of them were wolves. None of them seemed ready to share a sympathetic look with him.
His head was still throbbing when from off to Zach's left a door creaked open and in walked Zenah. She was dressed in a pure stark red dress that can to just a few inches below her modesty line and hugged every curve of her body. Behind her and hanging onto her wrist with an iron grip walked her father. He was a huge man, well over six feet, with broad shoulders, a chiseled chest and abs that looked hard enough to use as a washboard. He wore nothing above the waist and the wolves parted for both of them to pass.
With a gruff snort he handed Zenah off to one of the nearest men while he continued into the center of the room. Zach noticed that one of his arms didn't move as smoothly as the other, it was smaller also, as if it hadn't the muscle mass of the other.
"It has been a very long time since I've smelt the scent." The alpha took a huge breath in through the nose. "Ah, that's where I remember it, you smell like your father. Sure, a bit different, but who am I to judge."
"You all smell the same to me. I've never been able to tell you apart," he lied. "All I ever smell is dog, mutt, whatever you call yourselves." Growls from all around him told him he'd hit a nerve.
With a nod from Zenah's father five men leaped forward and began raining blows down on him. He ducked his head and covered up the best he could but with his hands tied together in front of him he could do only so much. He felt his scalp split and peel back a bit, the blood flowing freely. A shot to the ribs drove the breath from his lungs and left him gasping on the floor. He took a glancing shot to the groin which collapsed him onto his back, a free target for anything they wanted to throw his way.
It was at that moment that with a curt gesture the alpha called off his dogs. Zach was left gasping for breath and not even able to move. Blood ran from his head wound in a steady river to fall and pool beneath him on the floor.
"Now it's my turn boy." Alpha Loadstone stepped forward again, cracked as neck to both sides and waited.
"Get to your feet or I'll kill you where you lay. It makes no difference to me."
Zenah had kept silent as long as her nature would allow. Snarling, she launched herself against the men who were holding her.
"You can't DO this, please dad, stop!" She tore free from one of their clutches, but the other knocked her to the floor, pinned both arms behind her back then hoisted her to her feet.
"You've corrupted my own daughter. My own flesh and blood, for that reason alone I will kill you here, now, right in front of her."
