This is one that a lot of people don't really seem to think about, but it can be incredibly helpful. Something I notice when I decided to write for a hobby (despite the fact I haven't written anything on here in terms of books for a while, but I promise things are coming) is that I start picking up on storytelling in other stuff. I started noticing little things that most people when they don't care about when they watch a movie/TV/read a book/play a video game, and it's honestly kind of a pain. However, for what I don't do this with, I am happy to find other opinions about something that goes over story elements and try to find discussions from both sides to see where I would fall more.
Regardless, this is something that can help inspire you and show you what people like and dislike about something and the reasons behind it. It can help you see what new plot points you can try and twist into your own thing. Even if you end up in the camp of not liking something or in the middle, you can still try and understand why people like it and see if it's the literary devices they use or how they use them that are what people like. This can make you a better author as it can train you to look over your own stuff and see what you think is really good as well as what you can do better and maybe stop in the case of it being a bad writing habit.
Have a day
