He had been staring out the window when the teacher came in. She was soon followed by a newcomer. At the sight of the newcomer, he stiffened.
What is he doing here? he thought. The newcomer introduced himself as Loic Taylor.
I knew it. Another person to stay away from.
Despite brooding to distract his mind, he wasn't prepared. The images flowed into his head. Trauma. No. Not now. He desperately tried to stop them, but he couldn't. He was drowning in his own memories.
"No! Stay away!"
"Mind if I sit here?
He hardly heard it. He was being haunted by those memories. How could he have heard better? He went on battling for a while, but he couldn't take it anymore. He had to leave. And the sooner, the better. He slammed his hands on the table, standing with a rapid motion. He had to escape the class quickly. He couldn't run though. He controled himself well enough to walk out. After closing the class door, he checked the hallway. No one. He vanished.
He reappeared in an abandoned building. He came here often. Then, he allowed the memories to flow.

It was one day after basketball practice. He stepped over the threshold of their house.
"Lloyd! It's lunchtime and you're late!"
"I know, mom. Extra workouts. I'm coming!"
He quickly removed his shoes and headed to the dining hall. There at the dining table sat his family: his parents and his big brother Damian. He sat down. Across him was a seat. His twin brother's seat. Empty.
"You miss him, huh?" said Damian. "We all do."
He nodded, almost imperceptibly, tears welling up in his eyes.
"My, are we lucky to have such genius children, aren't we, dear?" His mother was talking to his father. Saying the same as always.
"Damian is a successful writer at just 12, Lloyd is a pro basketball player at 8, and Light is off to Harvard at 8. I'm a blessed woman!"
As mom went on ranting, Lloyd sat silently, chewing his food thoughtfully. He was thinking about his twin, who had helped him to start playing basketball. All those fun moments when they were younger. A tear trickled down his cheek.
Then —it happened.
He wasn't sure what happened. But he saw it all. The static in the air. Damian coughing up blood. Mom gasping for air. Dad trying to endure something. He quickly got up, knocking down his chair. He ran to his mother.
"Mom, what's going on?"
"No.... stay away..."
"Huh?"
He didn't understand. He couldn't. He went towards Damian whose eyes widened in terror as he drew near.
"No!" he gasped. "Stay away."
He got the same reaction from his father. Then it clicked. He understood. He was the cause. He was the one. But all he had done was to just stand there. His family passed out. They were saved by the paramedics. The incident was quickly pushed to the back of minds, forgotten as a weird dream.
But later, it proved to be the first manifestation of a confounding, yet life-threatening phenomenon that was going to change their entire lives.

He was back in the abandoned building. He had somehow ended on the 5th floor, and it's ceiling had caved in. But he was unscathed. Just trembling. He was barely able to get up. But he couldn't take a single step. He teleported to his bed. He was so tired. He let sleep take over him, even though he knew it would be restless. He saw those scenes again and again in his dreams.

He sat up. How long did he sleep? He checked his phone. 5am. It was the next day. Then a message caught his attention.
"Hey. You okay?"
Kobayashi Kannazuki. He ignored the message. He wasn't being mean. He just didn't know what to say. He went to the bathroom sink. He stared at his reflection in the mirror.
He was no longer Lloyd. He was Tanaka Yuuta. He left the bathroom.
