Chapter Seven: The Party Nobody Will Forget7Please respect copyright.PENANAuFBE2OkGCL
Bella de Silva didn’t throw parties.
She hosted events. The kind you’d think required RSVP cards, stylists, and security. Everyone who was someone in Ashcroft High knew this Friday night would be the most extravagant, most Instagrammed moment of the semester.
Bella wore red. The kind of red that screamed power and danger. Her heels clicked across the school hall like thunder announcing a storm. Margaret, Gweneth, and Tricia followed her like a royal entourage, each one hyped up on anticipation for the night’s spectacle.
“Raymond’s coming,” Bella purred, checking her perfectly painted nails. “Of course he is. Who would say no to me?”
Margaret smirked. “He won’t know what hit him.”
But there was one thing Bella de Silva didn’t see coming—Ysabelle.
Ever since that moment in the cafeteria when Raymond Mendez accidentally bumped into Ysabelle while she was singing softly to herself—barely audible over the buzz—something shifted. He noticed her. The quiet transferee. The girl with calloused fingertips from guitar strings and a voice that could silence chaos.
Ysabelle didn’t even realize it, but from that moment on, she wasn’t invisible anymore.
Raymond had heard her again outside the gym. This time, she was helping the music club set up, and he couldn’t take his eyes—or ears—off her. That same day, he asked one of the organizers if she was invited to Bella’s party.
“She wasn’t,” the organizer said.
That wouldn’t do.
Raymond, being the school's golden boy, had a quiet pull. And when he requested Ysabelle be invited, the invitation arrived that same afternoon, handwritten and sealed in gold.
Bella de Silva was livid, but she smiled.
She wasn’t about to lose her cool. Not in public.
Instead, she planned.
“Oh, she can come,” Bella told Gweneth with the fakest sweetness. “Let’s give her a night to remember.”
Tricia laughed, already pulling up old embarrassing photos from Ysabelle’s social media.
Because if Ysabelle thought she could outshine Bella de Silva…
She was about to learn the rules of the game.
And Bella never played fair.
