Ember walked through the cafeteria and noticed a crowd gathering. She turned to a girl beside her and asked what was happening, as it was so loud.
The girl explained that it seemed poor Maya had stolen Kenji's friend's robotics design. Now, Kenji was humiliating her and demanding that she admit her mistake.
However, Maya was being quite shameless; she continued to deny it. Ember nodded thoughtfully as she surveyed the cafeteria, realizing that most people were gathered around the crowd, while only a few remained seated and eating, watching the drama unfold.
She was about to say, "Forget it, let's go," when she heard Kenji's voice say, "Who knows if you became a genius by copying? After all, a thief can't get a good grade."
When everyone heard this, they began laughing and whispering. Just as Kenji was about to say something else to Maya, a loud voice rang out, "Silence!"
As soon as the students heard the voice, they fell silent and turned to see where it was coming from. They saw a stunning girl with long black hair and red streaks that looked like flames on either side of her delicate, fair face. Her eyes, dark and glimmering like black pearls, radiated annoyance as she strode confidently toward the group. The crowd parted instinctively, creating a clear path for her.
Ember paid no attention to the others and walked straight toward Kenji and Maya. She noticed Maya, who was crying and trembling with red eyes, clutching a piece of paper in her hands as she looked up at her.
Kenji was surprised to see Ember and started to speak, "Why are you—"
But Ember interrupted him. "Why are you making noise so early in the cafeteria while I’m trying to eat? If you’re going to do it, do it away from my sight because I can’t stand noise!"
Kenji was startled. "I'm sorry, I thought you wouldn't come this early."
Ember snorted and scanned the room. Wherever she looked, everyone averted their eyes. Just when it seemed she was about to leave, Ember turned around and said, "By the way, are you pretending to be an idiot or just stupid? Because everyone knows what's going on."
She continued, "If you create a design, you have to show it to the professor. If that loser copies it, the teacher will be the first to know. So instead of causing a scene, why not be upfront? And you," she pointed at Maya, "instead of whining, explain yourself. You're the one disturbing everyone."
Ember's words took everyone aback. Kenji, visibly shocked, asked, "Ember, why are you speaking for her?"
Annoyed, Ember replied, "Please, I'm not speaking for anyone. I said all this because if you make a scene, the teacher will be blamed. You know I respect him, so don’t cause a fuss."
With that, Ember walked away confidently. Her friends rushed after her, asking, "Ember, why did you stop them? And don’t you dislike that teacher?"
Ember glanced back, unfazed. "I enjoy drama, but that was just boring".
