(Author’s Note: Since this story is based off of another world, it would make sense to create new objects, but for a sense of understanding and avoiding confusion, I’ll be using objects from ‘Earth’, unless of course the object is supposed to be otherworldly.)

My hand throbbed in pain. I’d been stupid to talk back to my instructor like that. I was in class, learning about the essential rules in the military and what not to do.
Mr Nasin had been talking about ‘speaking when not told to.’ Of course, since my stupid brain didn’t slow down to think, I said, ‘What if we’re in danger and need to yell?’
That’s why he hit me with his ruler. It’d happened many times before, to the point where my right hand was almost numb from the pain. I never understood why teachers had to be so strict just over military lessons, but I guess that’s because everything’s controlled in Idulon, even how many times you have to shower a week. All those rules made me be the ‘sneaky little rat, messed up, untrustworthy, piece of-‘ okay. I’ll stop getting ahead of myself and go on.
I winced and stayed still, silent, letting Mr. Nasin continue with his useless lesson that I’d already heard countless times before.
I, like my other classmates, was elite. We were the top kids in our city for combat and strategy, but the only pro that did help us was our ability to shower less than four and a half times a week (four hours and thirty minutes.)
As always, with more power (not really) comes great responsibility. We were expected of more, and that meant taking rougher exams and doing more dangerous missions.
I finished up my class and began walking back to my home. I got there and let myself in, throwing off my old shoes and going to the living room. But to my surprise, a government official was there, talking to my parents.
We must be in big trouble, I thought to myself.
