Y/n walked to the siblings and tried to hide that she was hurting as she didn't want to worry the Pevensies especially when the war is so near. Y/n smiled.
"I told you I'd protect you." She said. Edmund didn't say anything but just hugged her, it shocked everyone but Y/n returned the hug, she needed it right now. When they let go of each other's embrace, Susan hugged her tightly too and Lucy joined in. Y/n laughed slightly and just let herself sink in that moment. She opened her eyes and looked at Peter, who never took his eyes off her, he winked and smiled with pride. Y/n moved out of the sister's embrace and took a deep breath.
"Right, you guys should continue training." She told the siblings, Susan nodded and took Lucy's hand they both walked back towards the targets. Edmund took one last look at Y/n, he wanted to say something to say thank you but he didn't know the right words.
"I know. Go, join your sister's" Y/n told Edmund, he just smiled and ran to catch up with his sister's. Peter walked over to Y/n and took her hands, she took a deep breath again and looked up into his eyes.
"You doing okay?" He asked.
"Yeah."
"Why don't I believe that." He laughed. Peter kissed Y/n's hands comfortingly
"Remember what I said, I'm always here. I see you." Y/n smiled and started to play with Peter's hair, looking into each other's eyes.
"I'm okay. Go train, I have a few things to sort out." Peter reluctantly nodded and walked away, she knew tonight was the night she had to tell him. Tell him everything. Y/n was scared but it was the right thing and she trusted Peter. She watched as Peter walked across the field with Oreius next to him, they were laughing and smiling together. Seeing him happy put her at peace, for all of three seconds until Aslan caught her attention and motioned for her to enter his tent.
"I'm sorry, for the way I spoke to you before, Princess" Aslan apologised and bowed. Tears formed in her eyes, she knew this was goodbye.
"Are you really going to do this?" She asked quietly.
"Yes, Princess. I must, Edmund will be safe. I trust you to keep all of them safe. They are the future of Narnia after all."
"Narnia doesn't have a future without you, Aslan." A single tear fell onto Y/n's cheek and Aslan frowned.
"Dear one, there's nothing to be sad about. You've been through worse." This just made thing's worse.
"How can you say that? You were the reason I got through all of that. You saved me. The reason I am who I am today is because of you."
"I'm sorry, Princess"
Stop - Stop apologising like that's gonna make things better." Aslan just stayed silent, for the first time she saw Aslan vulnerable. Y/n looked at Aslan with tears running down her cheeks.
"Please-" She pleaded. Aslan looked with sadness in his eyes.
"Please, don't do this. I don't want to say goodbye." Aslan just looked at the ground, Y/n ran over and hugged him. She burst out crying and trying to plead him over and over begging him not to do it but he didn't say anything. After a few minutes he just walked out the tent, without a goodbye. Y/n watched with tears flooding her eyes. She composed herself and went over to the mirror to clean herself up. She put her hands on the table and a piece of paper fell to the floor, she picked it up and examined it closer. It was a letter addressed to her, she carefully opened it and it read:
My dear Princess,
I'm afraid there's not many words I can use to express how sorry I feel. Leaving you here in this position, with this responsibility, I know it's not fair. From the moment I saved you from your mother, I saw something special. I remember you spent whole days in your tent, heartbroken. But you got up one day and stepped up when the people needed you. Opening up is hard for anyone but it's not a bad thing. You'll have to learn one day that being honest is a strength. I miss the little you running around catching fireflies and stumbling around on Phillips back. I'm sorry I've been distant sweetheart, but just know that every moment we shared I don't regret and I would do it all over again if I could. Now it's up to you, be brave, be strong, be hopeful, be positive and most of all be loving. Love will carry you through.
I might not say this much but just know that I am well and truly proud of you. You will and have always been, my daughter.
This is a final goodbye.
Y/n smiled as she closed the letter and held it to her heart. Those words meant the world to her. She wiped her face and left one last note on his mirror. She left the tent and made eye contact with Aslan, she smiled and nodded letting him know that she got the letter. He bowed and returned to what he was doing. As Y/n walked through the forest she sat by the river and waved her hands towards the leaves on the trees, they circled around her and created tiny silhouettes of Aslan and her through the years. One of Y/n catching butterflies, One of Y/n riding on Aslan's back, one of Y/n falling of Phillip and Aslan coming to help her. Y/n laughed and smiled at the memories, she never wanted them to fade so she didn't let them.
Y/n clasped her hands together with the leaves inside, she blew into her hands and when she opened them, the leaves were now solid and it was a statue of the two of them. She continued with all the memories and carried them into her tent. She left her tent and new princess, one full of hope and pride. Most importantly, honesty. It was time. The truth had to come out.
"Y/n!" Lucy shouted, she jumped and they all laughed.
"Lucy! You scared me!" She exclaimed while lifting her up in the air.
"Susan got the bullseye every time!" Y/n looked at Susan and she smiled with pride, Y/n clapped and winked at her.
"Right, I think you guys need some sleep." Susan carried Lucy inside both yawning away.
"And how did you guys do?" Y/n asked the boys.
"I think Phillip trusts me now" Edmund said, Y/n smiled and put her thumb up, he laughed and went inside.
"I missed you." Peter said softly as he grabbed and kissed her hands. Y/n tilted her head and smiled.
"I missed you too, how did training go?"
"Oh I am so much better than Edmund." Y/n laughed.
"I heard that!" Edmund shouted from inside the tent, which made both of them laugh. They embraced each other and Y/n felt safe again, she could feel his heart beating and it was soothing to her.
After a few hours, all the siblings were asleep and Y/n was sitting outside by the river. She just listened to the sound of the river and the wind.
"What are you still doing up?" a deep voice asked, it was Peter. He sat beside her, running his hands along the river.
"Couldn't sleep." She replied, Peter nodded and there was silence. She looked at Peter, this was time, the time is never better. Remember what Aslan said : ' Being honest is a strength'.
"Peter, I - I need to tell you something." Peter turned to look at her with confusion on his face.
"Remember when I had a panic attack before the White Witch came." He nodded
"I didn't want to see her because - because - " Y/n couldn't budge the words out, Peter grabbed her hands.
"You can tell me. Nothing - will change anything. No matter what it is." Y/n clenched her jaw and took a deep breath.
"She's my mother. The White Witch is my mother. When I was a kid, my mum was obsessed with ruling over Narnia, that's all she cared about and the fact Aslan had more power than her, it - it infuriated her. She used to scare the animals into joining her and whenever someone said no she'd kill them -"
"That isn't on you." Peter pleaded. Tears started forming in Y/n's eyes, bringing up the past and remembering everything that happened upset her. But this was the right thing.
"No it is. She - she would make me help. She made me capture the creatures and torture the poor things until they agreed to join her and if they still said no, she would - she would make me kill them. My whole life all I wanted was her approval, so I carried on. I didn't know any better. I was growing stronger everyday and it became difficult to control myself. Once when I had to capture the creatures, my mum made me capture this faun called...Alanna. I refused to do anything to her and her guards, the wolves, circled around me and tried to make me. I got upset and mad and - and I lost control. I burst. The wolves were dead and...So was Alanna. I killed my own best friend because I lost control. My mum was furious and she had every single one of her guards on me, she tried to kill her own daughter. I did the only thing I could. I ran. I ran as far as I could and that's when - Aslan found me. He knew who I was and what I did yet he still helped me, he took me back to his tent at the camp and made me feel safe. Somehow he made a deal with my mum to leave me alone and she did, just like that. I wasn't her daughter anymore. Aslan took me in and made me protector of Narnia. He became my father." Y/n took a sigh of relief and looked into Peter's eyes. She was ready for him to scream or get mad or even cry but he didn't, Peter stayed so calm and peaceful. All he did was tuck her hair behind her ears and kiss her forehead.
"That was never your fault. Jadis is - is a terrible person and she made you do terrible things. You had no choice, you did what you needed to survive. But you got out and you're this amazing, gorgeous, bright, energetic person. Narnia needs you more than you need Narnia." He wiped her tears and smiled.
"Peter, I - I also have something else to tell you." Y/n was honest about her past, it was time she was honest about her feelings too.
"Okay..." Peter said slightly worried. Y/n just looked into his eyes and prepared herself.
"From the moment, I saw you in the forest something in me changed. My whole life I've never let anyone in I've always been closed off and distant but I just couldn't with you. You feel safe and I feel like I don't need to hide from you. I could never bring myself to be honest about anything, but I want to be honest now, about everything. Peter I - I want - I want you. I want this. I want...us. Back home in Finchley, I know that me and this place may seem like a storybook but I'm real and this is real."
Peter sat there shocked, he slowly smiled and placed a hand on her cheek.
"Y/n..." He softly said. He didn't know what to say.
"Do you - Do you want...me?" Y/n asked nervously, her heart pounding out of her chest.
"Yes - Yes I want-" Peter cut off his own sentence by pulling Y/n in and kissing her. Y/n fell into the kiss, he put his hands on her waist with her's around his neck. The kiss was passionate and gentle. They both pulled away for a second and looked at each other, they both smiled. This kiss was long awaited. Y/n couldn't last any longer, she pulled him in for another kiss - well more like a makeout but. They both gave in and let their bodies take over. Y/n was always scared of opening up but right now it was all worth it.
This was where she was meant to be.
