꒱.. "Cause we are dreamers," Shinju peacefully sings along to the K-pop band as she empties the box on the store shelves. Her horrible singing is interrupted by the violent buzzing of her cell.
Her eyebrows scrunch as she glances at the caller i.d before she practically springs up like a cartoon character. "Daniel I'll be right back, robin hood's calling me!" Shinju yells as she exits the store leaving the tiny male confused.
The calm grunting wavers through Shinju's side of the phone as she glances at the couple entering the store. The male's shoulder is decorated with ink designs whilst the female wears a pink jacket and leggings suited for the outside weather. Shinju yelps as Vasco directs her attention back to his voice and disturbs the final piece of the puzzle that finally recognizes the girl. She has been hanging around Daniel lately, it's Yui.
She agrees to get him some banana milk after her shift ends and hangs up letting him get back to Jace.
She puts her hand on her forehead shaking her tired head as she taps her shoe against the pavement, "Boy am I in big trouble man, how am I going to steal on my first day?"
"Gah!" Shinju violently shakes as Zack stares at her monologuing on the steps of the store, "Are you spying on me? I'll tell my brother!"
"No... I just was surprised to see you here," he mutters back responding to her accusations.
"Oh, that! I work here now!" She performs jazz hands as Zack blankly stares her down.
The night air creeps between them as Shinju puts her hands down scratching the back of her neck. Opposite of her, Zack slides his hands into the comfortable place called his jacket pockets.
The awkwardness between the two retreats as loud noises from inside the store attract their attention. Zack glances between the entrance of the shop and Shinju staring off into the shady streets.
"Who's in there?" He questions Shinju pointing to the store.
"Uh Daniel and this couple," her hands shoot up to her mouth, "What if Daniel is in trouble?"
Zack kisses his teeth as his hands ruffle his hair before he jogs up the stairs stopping to spare a glance at Shinju, "I'm going in stay or come, I don't care."
"I'm right behind you partner," Shinju means that quite literally as she steps behind the male bunching up his white hoodie.
"What are you doing!?" Zack yells at her looking behind him as she forms a thumbs-up paired with a small smile. Zack sighs giving up before he walks into her job.
"Hey!"
Zack's booming voice stops the male's fist in mid-air as Daniel's face is saved from the incoming hurt. Shinju peaks around staring at the brunette attempting to hurt the tiny male.
She begins to bite her lip nervously. Maybe if she blocks out the fighting she will be alright.
"Just a sec, hmm," Zack stares straight at the two.
"Who the hell are you two?" The man snarls at Zack and Shinju.
"Babe... They're in my class," Yui speaks up for them both.
"Your class? So they're both freshmen," he concludes.
"Hey. I don't know the situation here, but can you not hit him? I owe him something... And just put yourself in his shoes," Zack requests calmly for Daniel's sake.
The man kisses his teeth before slowly approaching Zack, "Hah... You're arrogant. Kids have no fucking respect these days. Don't you know who I am? Never heard of Yong Lee from Gian High?"
"Where even is that?" Shinju mutters to herself scrunching up her face. Zack isn't focused on the man's speech as the wallet in the man's possession seems familiar.
The raven-haired male's eyes sharpen as his gaze lands on Yui, "Hey. Yui. You're nervy. You had a boyfriend all along?"
"W...What!?" She gasps startled.
"That wallet. You tried giving it to Daniel but he refused it."
Her pink lips move quickly to try and cover up to speak over him, "That is bullshit! Babe! Let's just go! This guy's an idiot!" Shinju moves her head to view the dramatic scene in front of her.
Her boyfriend gestures for her to be quiet before turning to Zack, "You... go on."
"There is a pretty boy in our class. Yui loves him so much that she brings him gifts. Those pants were a gift too. But Daniel turned her down, plus that ass is head over heels for her too," he reveals.
"Sweetie! This is a bunch of bull! He's saying it because he likes me!" Yui pleads for her lover to listen to her but her cries are ignored.
"How do you know all this?" The boyfriend questions him.
"Oh? I sit right next to him," Zack answers.
The man trembles turning to face his girlfriend, "Hey... Yui Kim."
"Hey, no! Don't you believe me?" Yui implores the man's trust.
"You... fuck... again," he stares at her as his eyebrow twitches in agitation.
"You promised it would be different! Really babe, you're the only-" Her begging is met with a swift fist. Yui's body flings back in surprise, as Shinju gulps with the fastness of her nervous heart.
Watching as he dismisses her hurt to reach and injure her further, only brings pain and ache toward Shinju's head. She recognizes this headache from when she met with Vasco. Shinju releases her grip on Zack to grasp at her dyed hair harshly in hopes of the aching cease.
Blurred images and faint whispers pass her by as her hands begin to tremble with every hit Yui receives. She faces the rotten man as she feels the need to protect again as her fists ball up.
In the blink of an eye, Yui's boyfriend is launched toward one of the metal store shelves.
Zack's eyes gape at the sudden noise while Daniel's jaw loosens to let his mouth hang in surprise. As Shinju hyperventilates, she releases her hands from the clenched position before dropping to the cold sleek floor.
"Chihiro," breathlessly escapes Shinju's lips before her consciousness is no more.
